Front Page News…
This past June 7th, the National Arts Centre in Ottawa hosted the world premiere of Aszure Barton's brand new creation, as part of the Canada Dance Festival. This latest work sees the Albertan choreographer give in to the curiosity and creative freedom that exemplify [bjm_danse]. This approach propelled the dancers to the very heart of the initial choreographic intents, showcasing each artist's individuality and humanity. Armed with their innermost feelings and free to let their voices be heard, the dancers were invited to display the fullness of their own distinct personalities. Barton, as always, pushes the dancers to fully immerse themselves in the creation of the choreography, and to infuse it with the vitality and distinctiveness that drives them in their work. The result is a mosaic that pulls the audience in with its irresistible daring and contagious energy. This new choreography is the follow-up to Les Chambres des Jacques, which is currently on tour. An evening with Aszure Barton will start touring in the fall and will be presented both in Québec and internationally. The Montreal premiere will take place on November 27th, 28th and 29th 2008 at the salle Pierre-Mercure as part of Danse Danse's programming. This work is dedicated to Marjorie and Gerald Bronfman, in honor of the loyal support they have shown the company over the years, and co-produced with The Banff Centre, the National Arts Centre and Canada Dance Festival. This new creation is made possible thanks to the support of the National Arts Council of Canada, the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec as well as many generous supporters whose participation in [bjm_danse]'s fundraising campaign is crucial to its success. " DANCE THE WORLD" Last May 1st, [bjm_danse]'s fundraising
event "Danser le monde" was held at Windsor Station. With
Mrs. Marjorie Bronfman as its honorary President and Mr. Robert
Charlebois as its honorary patron, the event was attended by
over 300 guests from the political, business and artistic worlds. We were
honoured to welcome Montreal Mayor Mr. Gérard Tremblay
to this major event, which brought the company's fundraising efforts for
the year to an astounding close. [bjm_danse] wishes to thank the partners,
sponsors and generous supporters who helped make this evening such an
unmitigated success. A special thank you to our major donors, Hydro-Québec
and the Power Corporation of Canada as well as the SAQ and Miller Thomson
Pouliot LLP. Cliqk
